At 2 weeks of age, we worm our puppies and then worm every 2-3 weeks, alternating wormers
At 5 weeks old, we give a Neopar vaccination to prevent Parvo.
At 7 weeks of age, we give a 5-way puppy vaccination, using Vanguard 5.
Puppies will need further vaccinations as they get older. We reccomend a booster at 10 , 13 and 16 weeks as well. Your vet will let you know what schedule they want your puppy on.
A rabies shot will also be needed if you receive your puppy prior to 12 weeks of age. Consult your veterinarian as to what age they recommend these be administered.
The puppies have access to mama's dog food (puppy food while she is nursing) from the begining so when they are ready to start eating it is available to them. At 6 weeks mama is taken out during the day and put back in at night to start their weaning process. This helps them to get accustomed to being away from her, yet not all at once. At 7 weeks mama is taken out for good. This ensures the puppies are eating and ready to go to their new homes at 8 weeks. The puppies are introduced to potty training by utilizing a doggy door. Please remember this is just a start to the potty training.
